Joy in Everyday Life

Thursdays, March 18-April 15

(Local Teaching Staff)

Joy In Everyday Life is open to people who have completed either Contentment in Everyday Life, or Shambhala Training Level II, or both. Registration will be taken at Level II, and at the first course. Pre-registration is encouraged. The teachings in this course are linked with the Buddhist mahayana teachings of bodhicitta (awake heart), and the virtuous qualities of compassionate warriorship. This five-week course expands the meditation experience by cultivating the noble-heart of the mahayana teachings. Through practical methods, we further develop kindness toward ourselves and others, emphasizing  the joy and invigoration that come from discipline.

Who am I? How did I get here, and where am I going? Looking directly at the experience of mind, we begin to understand our apparent confusion about ourselves and the phenomena of our world. Renouncing the painful cycle of confused action (karma), we use the natural inquisitiveness of mind to see how confusion arises and therefore how it could simply cease, allowing awake wisdom to manifest.  Open to anyone who wishes to study the basic Buddhist teachings and principles. Suggested donation: $5 per class. (meditation practice preceeding)

7:00pm-9:00pm: 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23

Shambhala Training, Sacred Path Program: Meek/Perky

Thursday-Sunday, April 8-11

>Register NOW for Meek/Perky

Directed by Roland Cohen and Richard Weiner, Schedule TBA. Pre-requisite: Drala. The Sacred Path program introduces further warriorship practices, that extend the basic meditation training. These practices are based on a societal vision and aspiration to help the world. This level of training cultivates one's dignity and natural gifts that are able to widen one's sphere of compassionate and practical influence. Perky , the second of the four dignities, focuses on cultivating sharp, vibrant and uplifted energy through natural discipline.

Shambhala Training Level 3: Warrior in the World

Friday-Sunday, April 23-25

Prerequisite: Level 2

>Register NOW for Level 3

In this program, the third in the sequence of Shambhala Training workshops, we build on the fearlessness we developed by examining our habitual tendencies in Level II. Willing to experience our life without relying on the cocoon, we begin to engage the world directly and extend the attitude of fearlessness to our activities.
